Our History

Being in the funeral industry since 1972, it was always Bob Groves’s dream to own and operate his own funeral home. In June 1994, Bob and Carol Groves put plans on paper and put their business plan for constructing a new funeral home to action. In January of 1995, Bob and Carol’s dream became a reality with the grand opening of Groves Funeral Home Inc., located on RT 3 Union, WV. The funeral home offered over 6,000 sq. ft. of building space, which included a chapel with a seating capacity of approximately 200 people and two visitation rooms. The new funeral home also offered a large parking area for the public’s use. Bob and Carol Groves would go on to serve families in their time of need for the next 23 plus years of dedicated service. Around 2009, Bob and Carol hired Kenny Mann, a licensed funeral director and a lifelong resident of Monroe County on a part-time basis to assist them in and around the funeral home. In 2013, Kenny would come on full-time with the firm and work with Bob and Carol up until their retirement at the end of December 2017.

Kenny was able to purchase the funeral home in January 2018 from Bob and Carol and had the honor of adding the “Mann” name to the existing Groves Funeral Home name, making it officially Groves-Mann Funeral Home, Inc. Kenny and his staff strive hard to meet the needs of the people. It’s been a true honor to have the opportunity to serve the community, and he looks forward to continuing the dignified and humbling service that Bob and Carol Groves started many years ago. Kenny and his wife Angie (Ellison), and their six children, Brianna, Brooklynn, Hannah B., Hannah G., Haleigh, and Emmett, live on the Ellison family farm at Greenville, WV.

Since the opening of the funeral home, many families have entrusted the Groves-Mann Funeral Home staff to care for and assist them in their time of need. We want everyone to know it is a true honor to assist families in honoring their loved one’s life and legacy. We are always here to help!
