ALDERSON, WV --- William Lawrence (Larry) Raabe, 83 years old passed away of natural causes on the morning of Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Beaver, WV.
Born October 09, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to William Lawrence Raabe, Sr. and Lillian Theresa Dietz Raabe. Larry is survived by son, Christopher Raabe; daughter, Rachel Moran; son, Greg Raabe, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, half-sister Terry Swann and 5 nieces and nephews. Larry attended the Baltimore City College for high school and graduated there before attending classes at Loyola University, Maryland.
Larry enlisted and served in the United States Air Force for four years, being honorably discharged in 1962. He worked as an aircraft radio repairman and was able to travel to Japan, amongst other places. Larry worked for the James W. Rouse Company of Columbia, MD for over 20 years, attaining the position of Assistant Vice President in the mortgage department.
Shortly after leaving the Air Force, Larry met and married Linda Lee Simmons, also of Baltimore, and they started raising a family. In 1973, the family moved from northeast Baltimore to West Friendship, Maryland and after retirement he moved to WV with his daughter's family on their farm. He enjoyed traveling and watching the birds visit his birdfeeders, the wildlife in the fields and feeling the sun on his face while sitting outside.
Family was very important to Larry. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you enjoy your family, call someone you miss or go sit outside and appreciate what is around you that is so often overlooked. If a donation is preferred, please consider Hospice of Southern WV at 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801 or the Alzheimers Association.
We hope there is whole milk, butter-pecan ice cream and Hershey's syrup waiting for you in Heaven, Dad. You are in always in our hearts. We love you, rest in peace.
