HINTON--William C. Hutchison, 85 of Hinton, WV passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Springfield Nursing Home in Lindside.
He was born at Brooklyn, WV, September 13, 1931 a son of the late Oscar Neil and Thelma Lucille Wykle Hutchison.
Mr. Hutchison was a retired District 9 Department of Highways employee; former owner of Mountain View Family Dining at Gap Mills; one of the first EMT's in West Virginia; a founding member of the Sweet Springs Rescue Squad; a recipient of the Governor's Award for Heroism; a Veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during the Korean War; a member of the Forest Hill Friendship Baptist Church at Forest Hill and Monroe Lodge # 77 A. F. & A. M. at Union.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Nellie Barton Hutchison; a brother, Richard Hutchison; 2 sisters, Phyllis Withrow and Nancy Ford, and sister-in-law, Nancy Sizemore.
Surviving are 9 children, Eric Wilson in Florida, Lisa Stewart in Virginia, Mark Wilson in Maryland, Lois Mallene Hefner and husband, Gary of Sweet Springs, Nathan Wiley and Wife, Delphine of Alderson, Vaughn Hutchison of Hinton, Walter Neil Hutchison and wife, Susan of Lewisburg, Wilimena Hutchison Jones and husband, Bobby of Princeton, Meresa Hutchison Mann and husband, Christopher of Lerona; special sister-in-law, Nora Sue Dunn and husband, Joey of Cashmere, Brother-in-laws, Charles "Sonny" Barton and wife, Bonnie, Bill Utterback and wife, Nancy; David Sizemore; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with Rev. Terry Utterback officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barton Cemetery at Forest Hill, WV.
