UNION, WV --- William E. (Bill) Mohler passed away peacefully on July 31, 2018. Bill was born on October 18, 1937 in Salt Sulphur, WV. He was preceded in death by father; William D. Mohler, mother; Mary B. Mohler, brothers; Oswald B. Mohler and James F. Mohler; wife, Edna T. Mohler. Surviving are wife; Lena Spurlin, daughter; Deborah E. Mohler, son; Donald E. Mohler, step daughters, Patty Goins and husband Bud, Beverly Ittenbach; step son, Clay Spurlin III and wife Donna. Grandchildren; Angie Woodall, Eddy Slayton, Chase Slayton, Chad Goins, Carson Ittenbach, Clay Spurlin IV, Jennifer Orozco, and Julie Spurlin. Sisters; Betty Morgan and husband Mark, Bonnie Morgan and husband Kermit. Sisters in law; Rita Mohler and Sharon Mohler. Twelve great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was a career military veteran who served a total of 27 years in US army branch. His service sent him all over the world including two tours in Vietnam and Germany with 82nd Airborne Special Forces. He received many commendations in his career including bronze star with oak cluster. Upon his discharge he came back home to Monroe Co. He had many interest including civil war reenactment and attending nascar races. He sat on the Monroe County Council of Aging and was a member of Turtle Creek band. He was a lifetime member of VFW. He was owner of Hideaway Tavern in Union. He was proud of his native heritage and a member of Appalachian American Indians West Virginia. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He firmly believed in no trace left behind.
A celebration of his life will be held at Groves-Mann funeral home in Union, WV. On Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 7p.m. Visitation with family will be from 5-7. Military rites will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard.
