UNION, WV – Wanda Faye Dowdy, age 80, departed this life for a better life on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Lindside Healthcare Center in Lindside, WV. Born April 22, 1944, on Eads Mountain in Sinks Grove, WV, to the late Gilmer and Sadie Weikle Dowdy.

Wanda loved church and was saddened when she was not able to go. She loved to sing, crochet, and make dolls for those that she knew. She was a caregiver who cared for her mother for 10 years while she was bedfast. Also, she worked for Otis Pence in home care. She had a loving roommate at Lindside Healthcare most of her time there, Billie Shrewsberry. Additionally, she had a special friend, June Honaker. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by those who knew her. She always said, "I wish I could walk like you," and now, Praise God that she can!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Caroline, Elizabeth, and infants Naomi and Freda; and brothers, Telford, and infants Gene and Winford.

Survivors include her sister, Revie Jackson and husband Gene; brother, Edward Dowdy; nephew, Jamie Jackson and wife Jennifer; step nephew, Kevin Jackson and wife Tanua; and step niece, Tina Hoke and husband Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Broyles and Pastor Todd Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Keenan, WV. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
