Pickaway – Virginia Belle O'Neill Smith, 90, of Pickaway won her battle with Altiemzers at Springfield Center, Saturday, May 21, 2016.
She was born April 21, 1926 at Hillsdale, WV a daughter of the late William Franklin and Hattie Gaye Beamer O'Neill.
Mrs. Smith was a retired unit secretary in the x-ray department at Mt. Sinai hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, she was also a secretary for Longanacre Funeral Home, a 1944 graduate of Union High School and after graduation she boarded a train and traveled to Washington, DC to a job with the FBI during WWII. and she was a member of the Union Church of God.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard "Smithy" Smith; a son, Timothy Hillard Smith; 3 grandchildren, Lannie Virginia Young, Richard Hillard Allen and Robert Anthony Smith; 2 sisters, Mary Marshall Paschall and Anna Frances Cole; a brother, John William O'Neill; 3 son-in-law's, Paul Wickline, Gene Young and Keith Weikle.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Kathleen Smith Schmidt and husband Dave of Union, Ella Smith Wickline of Ronceverte, Gladys Smith Young of Union and Deborah Virginia Smith Weikle of Sinks Grove; a son, Bobby Smith of Stow, Ohio; 6 brother and sisters, Louise Sparks of Sinks Grove, Jane Brisker of Minford, Ohio, Marian Collins of Greenville, Willia Gray Kanode and husband, Junior of Lindside, Oren O'Neill of Lindside and Dorothy Lee Cole of Lindside; 12 grandchildren, Kim Eldridge, Kay Clatts, Karen, Keith and Scottie Scott, Steven Smith, Jimmy Helffinger, Philip "Flip" Brooks, Candy Sabol, Annie Boggs, Jenifer McCraw and Hattie "Sis" Allen; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held 1 pm., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Groves Funeral Home in Union with Pastor Gene Fullen and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery, Pickaway, WV.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 am. until service time.
