Roanoke, Virginia - Virginia P. Lowman, 101, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2015 at Friendship Assisted Living in Roanoke, Virginia following a short illness.
She was born in Craig County, Virginia June 28, 1914 a daughter of the late James William and Cleva Hannah Porterfield.
Mrs. Lowman was a retired bookkeeper for Fink Jewelry at Covington, Virginia and had volunteered at the Low Moor Hospital. She was a member of the Covington Baptist Church at Covington and had attended the Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke for the past 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Lee Lowman and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 1sister.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Rites will be held 2:00 pm. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, Virginia with the Rev. George Clarkson officiating.
