SINKS GROVE, WV --- Virginia Frances Crone Erskine passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. Frances was born December 30, 1939 to Margaret Elsie Falls Crone and Roy Montague Crone. Her husband of over 50 years, James Shelton Erskine passed away on September 20, 2021. Frances spent her early life in Greenbrier County near where she was born. After settling into married life, she and Jim resided at Sinks Grove for 50 years. She graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1958. Frances was employed by Dentist Mark Kilcollin as an office manager for about 20 years before her retirement. Prior employment was with Sears in Lewisburg.

Frances was an award-winning quilter, a craft she learned from her mother and perfected on her own. Many years, she entered the competition and won ribbons at the annual State Fair. She always had a row of beautiful zinnias in Jim's garden. She was also a good cook and hosted Thanksgiving brunches for extended family and a few lucky friends.

Frances was baptized at Wood Memorial Presbyterian Church, a mission of Old Stone Presbyterian Church. After moving to Sinks Grove, she became a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church for many years, until the time of her passing, she was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Pickaway where she served in many capacities.

Frances was preceded in death by younger sister, Loretta Kelly and older brother Everette. She leaves behind brother Walter, sister-in-law, Patricia McCullum and her husband Ron; nine nieces and nephews; and an untold number of friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV, with Pastors Kelly Martin and Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Community Church Cemetery at Sinks Grove, WV. The Family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Bob Canterbury, Bill Canterbury, Glen Carter, Buddy Holesapple, Nelson Jenkins, and Jim Allen will serve as Pallbearers.
