June 26, 1922 – March 3, 2020
Virginia Carolyn Looney Crosier, 97, a great lady of God, passed away, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Greenbrier Health Care Center, Fairlea, WV. Born June 26, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Edgar Pierce Looney and Myra Elizabeth Boyd Looney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her six siblings, Sylvia, Inez, Zelma Ruth, Hager Paul, Elexus Ira and Ralph Bernard. Virginia attended first through eighth grades at Hale School, Buchanan, VA and then her parents moved to Keenan, WV where she attended Union High School. Virginia fell in love and married C.P. Crosier on July 26, 1940. She had fifty-two years and eight months with C.P., until the Lord called him home on March 24, 1993. The good Lord blessed Virginia and C.P. with two beautiful children, Carole Sue and Frederick Michael. Mike passed away August 15, 1981 and Carole Sue passed away March 12, 1999.
Virginia was a Christian and attended the Methodist Church at Gap Mills, WV. She worked at Yarid's Specialty Shop from 1958 to 1967 and at the Alderson Federal Prison from 1967 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Hillsdale CEOS Club, the Methodist Women's Club and NARF for Federal Retirees. Virginia loved to quilt and had made more than thirty quilts, which she gave away to family and friends. She loved to sew and made wedding and other formal dresses, drapes and lots of clothes.
Surviving Virginia are one sister, Joan Foley and husband Dan of Wilmington, Ohio; two granddaughters, Allyson Norwood Bush of Mendham, NJ and Elizabeth Ann Norwood Weninger and husband Quinn of Ames, IA; six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriel, Robert, Wyatt, Samuel and Lucy; Virginia is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Fairview Christian Church at Keenan, WV with Pastor Robert Baer and Pastor Don Trent officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of the service, Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be Henry Hancock, Danny Huffman, Jim Ridgeway, Greg Sibold, Mike Sibold and Charles Wilson. Online guestbook can be signed at www.groves-mann.com .
