GAP MILLS, WV--- Violet Jean Dunbar, age 88 of Gap Mills, WV passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Brier Nursing Center, Ronceverte, WV. Born December 1, 1929 at Zenith, WV she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Miller Shires. Violet was retired from the Patton Mercantile at Gap Mills, WV. She was also a member of the Carmel Church at Carmel, WV.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dunbar; and a brother, Herbert Shires. Survivors include, one nephew, Eddie Dunbar of Union, WV and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Shires of Sinks Grove, WV; many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Carmel Church at Gap Mills, WV with Pastor William Keeney officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery, Gap Mills, WV. Friends may call Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Church. Bill Capaldo, Jr., Timmy South, C.W. Patton, and Roger Wiseman will serve as Pallbearers.
