November 25, 1942 – May 22, 2025
Thomas N. "Tommy" Hunter, age 82, passed away May 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Born November 25, 1942, in Rainelle, WV, he was the son of the late Ernest M. Hunter and Orpha VanStavern-Hunter.
Tommy worked at C&O and CSX Railroad as conductor for 34 years, while living with his family in Hinton, WV. After retirement he moved with his wife of 63 years, Martha, to Hollywood WV to build and live in their dream home. He loved to hunt, especially squirrels, and fish, enjoyed mowing and his new garage for his old cars and Ford Trucks. Tommy and Martha were very active for 34 years in the Summers County and Monroe County Right To Life Organizations, respectively. He loved going to church with fellowship and loved the Lord. He loved bluegrass music and watching old westerns. He also loved going various places with Martha.
Those left to cherish his memory includes the love of his life, wife Martha Bostic-Hunter and four children: Barbara "Barbie" Hunter-Bales and husband Barry of Red Sulphur Springs, son Thomas Mark Hunter and wife Cheryl of Hollywood, son John Eric Hunter and wife Becky of Hollywood, son James "Pete" Hunter and wife Tanya of Keenan. Grandchildren: Dave Hunter and wife Caitlyn of Cashmere, Jacob Hunter and wife Megan of Hollywood, Maggie Hunter of Hollywood, Ryan Hunter of Hollywood, Luke Hunter of Keenan, Wade Hunter of Keenan and Charlie Bales and wife Abby of Princeton. Great-grandchildren: Charlotte Hunter of Hollywood, Emily Bales of Princeton, Madison Bales of Princeton, Lydia Bales of Princeton. Also, many dear family and friends.
Services will be Monday, May 26, 2025, at Grove-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV. Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 pm. Funeral is at 2:00 pm with Pastor Freddie Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery, Rt 219 Pickaway, WV. Pallbearers are Dave Hunter, Jacob Hunter, Ryan Hunter, Luke Hunter, Wade Hunter, and Stephen Bostic.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Virginians for Life-Monroe County Chapter at 990 Pete Lynch Road, Union, WV
