Lewisburg - Tasso Siler Butler, Sr, of Sarton and Lindside, WV passed away January 15, 2016, at the Seasons Assisted Living Center where he was cared for by many for whom he cared so much.
He was born April 6, 1923 in Sampson County, NC. a son of the late Bertis Camel and Cornelia Crumpler Butler.
He served in the Army during WWII, and retired after 46 years grocery store management.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by one son, William John (Bill) Butler and six siblings: Burtis (Bud) Butler, Mattie Bell Copeland, Versie Dudd, John Butler, Euphemia Natolie, and Charles Butler.
He attended Lindside United Methodist Church and was grateful for the longtime assistance of Chuck Weikle and for his adoption by the families of Dale Bradley and Nedra Lawson, children of his departed friend, Genevieve Stafford.
He is survived by the Mother of his six children and former wife of 43 years, Donna Jean Butler, five children: Bonnie Butler Lay, Tasso Butler, Jr., April Butler, Harold Butler, Cris Butler, one sister, Iris Butler, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral Service will be held 5 pm., Friday, January 22, 2016 at Groves Funeral Home in Union with Pastor Rodney Lawson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:30 pm. until service time.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am., Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Orchard Cemetery at Ballard.
