GREENVILLE, WV – Sylvester "Sonny" Wilson Jr., age 85, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at his home in Greenville. Born September 27, 1938, in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Sylvester Wilson Sr. and Violet Virginia Wheatley Wilson.

Sylvester was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and later worked as an operating engineer for the U.S. Government. He was a member of the American Legion and loved fishing and hunting. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.

Those left to cherish Sylvester's memory include his loving wife, Barbara Mitchell Wilson of the home; one daughter, Sheri Wilson of SC; one son, Craig Wilson and wife Patricia of MD; one sister, June Woolfenden of SC; six grandchildren, Rebecca and husband Eric, Hunter, Kacie and husband Brandon, Jarrod and wife Leigh, Elijah, and Steven and wife Amber; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV. Entombment will follow at the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lewisburg, WV. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
