Obituary

SUFFOLK, VA --- Susie Ann Brown, 81, of Suffolk, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26, 2021.


She was born to parents Paul E. Smith and Katherine C. Smith in Greenville, West Virginia.  As a child she enjoyed working on the farm, playing the piano and playing basketball.


She graduated from Greenville High School in 1957 and went on to study at Chesapeake & Ohio Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse.


Susie worked as a Registered Nurse for several years at DePaul Hospital, Virginia Beach General, Providence Hospital, and the Upjohn Company.


Susie met her husband and soulmate, Donald C. Brown, in 1958. They were married on May 25, 1959, in North Carolina. Together they raised 3 children: Donald Scott, Darren Keith, Diane Michelle.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Susie also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, bird watching, and following her children's and grandchildren's sports and activities.


Susie joins her father, Paul Smith; her mother, Katherine Smith; and her sister, Sandra Mann, who have already passed and are in Heaven.

Susie is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Donald Brown; her son Scott Brown and grandchildren, PJ and Dylan; her son Darren Brown (Lisa) and grandchildren, Ethan and Mason; her daughter Diane Morris (Brian) and grandchildren Ryan (Paige) and Zachary; her great granddaughter, Ava Grace Morris; sisters-in-law Sue Wills and Kathy Campbell (Wayne); and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family has entrusted Groves-Mann Funeral Home with the arrangements. A Grave-side Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the Mount Hedding Cemetery in (Lilydale) Greenville, WV.   Ryan H. Morris will officiate the ceremony.  There will also be a Celebration of Life at Magnolia United Methodist Church on July 18, 2021.
