UNION, WV – Shawn Douglas Carter, age 43, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Born January 25, 1982, in Ronceverte, WV, he was the son of Melvin "PeeWee" Carter and Gloria Darlene Vandegrift Carter. Shawn graduated from James Monroe High School and studied graphic art, design, and animation. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and tattoo artist. He had many talents, including artwork, tattooing, painting, and etched glass. He loved fishing, golfing, painting, drawing, woodworking, football, frisbee golf, spending time at the beach, skiing at Snowshoe, and his cat, P-Kitty.

Survivors include his father, Melvin "PeeWee" Carter and wife Donna; his mother, Gloria Darlene Vandegrift Carter and James; one brother, Bobby Carter; one niece, Brooklyn; three sons, Gage and wife Tori and baby Akari in Japan, and Creed and Locklen.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Highland Park Church in Second Creek, WV, with Freddie Bostic officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM until time of services on Tuesday at the church (Highland Park Road, Second Creek, WV 24974).
