Ruth Renee Baker Sams, 92 of Union, passed away, Sunday morning, July 27, 2014 at the Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home in Fairlea.
Mrs. Sams was born at Sweet Springs, West Virginia, August 15, 1921 a daughter of the late Richard and Daisy Miller Baker.
She was a retired employee if the Andrew S. Rowan Home at Sweet Springs and she was affiliated with the Union United Methodist Church and Union Memorial Baptist Church at Union.
Mrs. Sams was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C. Sams, Sr.; a grandson, Glenn Sams and 2 daughter-in-laws, Cathy and Nancy Sams.
Surviving are 4 sons, Junior Sams and Alfred Sams both of Sweet Springs, Charles Sams and his wife, Ramona of Sinks Grove, Mike Sams and his wife, Patti of Lewisburg; 1 daughter, Barbara Sams Nicely and her husband, Ron of Troutville, Va.; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM. Wednesday, July 30, 20104 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Rev. Gene Fullen and Rev. Bob Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery at Keenan.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 12 noon until service time Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
