UNION, WV --- Roger Dale Dunbar, 67, of Union, WV, passed away Friday night at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV following a short illness.
He was born at Union, WV, September 5, 1949 a son of the late Forrest Albert and Leona May Caldwell Dunbar.
Mr. Dunbar was a disabled carpenter, a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star, he was affiliated with the Baptist Faith and was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing and he was a loving grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Forrest Dunbar.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Debra Allen Dunbar of Union; 3 sons, Michael Dunbar and wife, Summer of Union, Robbie Dunbar and wife, Shannon of Gap Mills, Matthew Dunbar and wife, Amanda of Lindside; a daughter, Lori Dunbar and companion, Robert Atkins of Gap Mills; a brother, Lee Dunbar and wife, Carolyn of Covington; 2 sisters, Fern E. Holland of Union, Virginia "Ginny" Morgan and husband, Julian of Ronceverte; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with Pastors Todd Baker and Terry Kornegay officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Gates.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 12 noon until service time Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Norvel and Ronald Dunbar, Chris Gill, Kyer Morgan, Jamie and Rodney Allen.
