Rocky Duane Evans, 58 of Gap Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Springfield Center at Lindside following a long illness.
He was born at Pearisburg, Virginia, March 10, 1956 a son of the late Newman B. and Alma Campbell Evans.
Mr. Evans was a disabled B. F. Goodrich Employee, a member of the Rock Camp Baptist Church, a member of Monroe Lodge # 77 AF & AM Masonic lodge at Union and a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Danny Evans and Brownie Evans.
Surviving is his wife, Gail Dowdy Evans of Gap Mills; 2 sons, Jason Evans and Amber of Gap Mills, Justin Evans and Sabrina of Lindside; 4 grandchildren, Ashton Evans, Ethan Evans, Eain Evans and Chance Evans; 1 step grandson, Blaine Fox; 2 brothers, Jackie Evans and Ruby of Peterstown, Glen Evans of Glen Lyn, Va.; 3 sisters, Joan Hines , Minnie Taylor, Jerry Riffe and Tom all of Lindside; 2 sister-in-laws, JoAnn Gunter of Lindside, Barbara Evans of Pearisburg, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Rev. Paul Broyles and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.
Burial will follow at the Tyler-Mann Cemetery at Greenville.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 6 – 8 pm. Friday October 17, 2014.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Dillon, Pete Allen, Donald Brown, Gary, Michael and J. T. Karnes.
