PICKAWAY, WV --- Robert Douglas Ferguson, 98, of Pickaway, WV passed away Wednesday evening, July 26, 2017 at the Alleghany Health and Rehab in Clifton Forge, Virginia following a long illness.
He was born at Sun, WV August 22, 1918 a son of the late James Harvey and Josie Mae Smith Ferguson.
He was a retired Celanese Fibers Company employee retiring with 37 years service, a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WW II, a member of the Marvin Chapel Church, Wayside Saddle Club, West Virginia Horseman's Association and the Bluegrass Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Herman, Hampton, Roscoe, John and Richard Ferguson.
Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Meadows Ferguson of Pickaway; 3 children, Buck Ferguson and wife, Shelba of Fincastle, Va., Mary Ferguson and husband, Jerry Seaton of Mineral, Va., Jim Ferguson and wife, Donna Vance of Union; grandchildren, Aimee Dudley and husband, Matt, Don Crook and wife, Michelle, Ashley Seaton, Jared Seaton, Nathan Vance and Adam Vance; great grandchildren, Austin and Sawyer Dudley, Serenity Shearer; a sister, Dorotha Brown and husband, Carl of Union.
In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date.
