GREENSBORO, NC --- Patricia Pence Sims, age 73, of Greensboro, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC. Born March 14, 1947 in Savanah, GA, she was the daughter of Charlotte Pence of Sarton, WV, and the late Millard Pence. After she graduated from Greenville High School, she was married to Delbert Sims for 56 years. They moved to Greensboro, NC. She served the Lord as a member of the Messengers Quartet for eight years. She was a member of the Charity Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Choir. She worked most of her years as a legal secretary.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Penny Stover, and several aunts and uncles. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, Delbert Sims; one son, Eugene B. Sims and wife Jamie; two daughters, Pamela Hinchee and Tina Sims; three grandchildren, that called her "Babushka", (which is German for Grandmother), Chloe Hinchee, Gracie Hinchee, and her "Bestest Boy", Preston Taylor Sims; three step grandchildren, Matthew Elter, Samuel Elter, and Jordan Hinchee; Brother, Millard Byrl Pence and wife Cheryl; sisters Connie Dunbar and husband Donald, and Linda Kendrick; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Alexander Church Cemetery at Sarton, WV. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Preston Sims, David Pence, Chloe Hinchee, Matthew Elter, Michael Storm, and Joshua Porras will serve as Pallbearers. The family sugguests memorial contributions be made in honor of Patricia to Authora Care Collective Hospice 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405 and to the Rady Lady Foundation at radylady.com Due to the regulations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is highly recommended to social distance and wear a mask while attending the services.
