GAP MILLS, WV --- Okie David Crislip, age 71 years and 11 months, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born at Gap Mills, WV on May 4, 1948 he was the son of the late David Olin and Mary Wiseman Crislip. Okie was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was retired From the Department of Highways after 32 years of service. He was an avid gardener. He loved tending to his flower gardens. Okie loved the outdoors and deer hunting was his favorite sport. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ola Mae Crislip. Survivors include one sister Betty Bradley Dowdy of Pickaway, WV; two brothers, Tim Crislip of Gap Mills, WV, and Oscar Crislip and wife Debbie of Gap Mills, WV. Two nieces, Joni Boone of Gap Mills, WV and Ann Carter of Zenith, WV; three nephews, Jamie and Jesse Crislip and Jr. Bradley; three great-nieces, Lexi, Amanda, and Martha; ten great-nephews, Hunter, Parker, Tanner, Cameron, Holden, Kanion, Kristofer, Brian, Andrew, and Josh; He also leaves behind his beloved Cats, "Baby" and "Lady". Due to the regulations associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic and out of love and respect for family and friends, a private funeral for the family only will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. A public graveside with social distancing measures required will follow in Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV. Those wishing to attend the graveside portion of the service should meet at the Cemetery around 12:00 noon.
