WAITEVILLE, WV --- Miriam June Porterfield, age 87 of Waiteville, WV, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs, VA. Born June 23, 1931 at Waiteville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Daisy Bell Smith. Mrs. Porterfield was homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of the New Zion Union Church at Waiteville, WV, where she was also the church's pianist for several years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Billie Porterfiled; one son, Shane Porterfield; one daughter-in-law, Faye Porterfield; three brothers, and one sister. Survivors include, two sons, Gary Porterfield of Clifton Forge, VA and Bruce Porterfield and wife Ophelia of Covington, VA; one daughter, Alice Hutchison and husband Raymond of New Castle, VA; one brother, Tim Smith of Roanoke, VA; ten grandchildren, Jolie McKinney and husband Thomas, Jeremy Hutchison and wife Candy, Katrina Givens and husband Jerry, Brad Porterfield, Shannon Little and husband Daniel, Jonathan Porterfield, Lloyd Jordan, Warren Jordan, Malinda Brooks, and Tony Jordan; nineteen great-grandchildren; special friend Tammy Stewart; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the New Zion Union Church at Waiteville, WV with Pastors Mark and Marva Smearman officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Union Church Cemetery at Waiteville, WV. Friends may call Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV.
