GAP MILLS --- Michael Leighton Dransfield, 73 of Gap Mills, WV passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea surrounded by his entire family.
He was born at Ronceverte, WV, February 4, 1943 a son of the late Roy Leighton and Margaret Ellen Shumate Dransfield.
Mr. Dransfield was a retired Dairy Farmer of Kitchen Creek Dairy at Gap Mills, a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church at Gap Mills. He had many hobbies including, riding his bicycle on the Greenbrier River Trail, fishing with the grandsons. He was an avid bird watcher and he loved watching the West Virginia Mountaineers play any kind of ball.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Ellen Dransfield Reynolds.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Doris Ann Cook Dransfield of Gap Mills; 2 daughters, Kimberly Ann Fraley and husband, Everett of Gap Mills, Melanie Lynn Dowdy and husband, Steven of Princeton; 3 grandchildren, Abigail Nicole, Luke Nathaniel and Michael Wayne Fraley; niece, Susan Reynolds Zebley and husband, Kurt and their four children, Joshua, Tobin, Jabarrie and Jaleigha of Richmond, Virginia and a nephew, Jeffery Reynolds of Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Bishop Everett Fraley, Rev. Mark Smearman and Rev. Marva Smearman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV.
