ROCK CAMP, WV --- Megan Renee Thomas, age 23, of Rock Camp, WV, passed away September 2, 2018 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, WV. Born February 22, 1995 in Greenbrier County, WV, she was the daughter of Sheila Ann Clarkson Layman of Rock Camp, WV. Megan was a 2013 graduate of James Monroe High School and also a graduate of New River Community College at Lewisburg, WV where she earned her degree in nursing. Most recently, she became a traveling nurse where she could fulfill her dream of helping people. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed kayaking, music, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. She had several great qualities about her. She was happy, friendly, spontaneous, motivated, determined, smart, independent, and passionate.
In addition to her mother, Megan is survived by her mother's fiancée, Keith Sanner of Rock Camp, WV; six brothers, John Thomas and girlfriend, Kelsey Christian of Lindside, WV, Jacob Thomas of Greenville, WV, Justin Thomas of Greenville, WV, Cameron Huffman of Lewisburg, WV, Hayden Huffman of New Castle, VA, and Wes Sanner of PA; three sisters, Nicole Cox and husband Daniel of Gap Mills, WV, Maelyn Huffman of New Castle, VA, and Kerrigan Sanner of PA; grandparents, Cheryl Clarkson and Jimmy Jackson of Union, WV, Larry and Janie Clarkson of Union, WV, and Bobby and Connie Thomas of Greenville, WV; great-grandmothers, Joyce Ann Glover of Gap Mills, WV and Virgie Wilfong of Marlinton, WV special niece, Kensley Grace Thomas of Lindside, WV; special niece and nephew, Lydia Marie Cox and Cooper Daniel Cox; special aunt, Debbie Thomas of Greenville, WV; Special great-aunt, Rebecca Sue Helms and great-uncle, Tony Wilkins of Gap Mills, WV; special cousins, Molly Hoke, Elizabeth Wickline, Ronnie Helms, and Johnna Dunbar; a special cousin she thought a lot of, Kevin Wayne Glover of Gap Mills, WV; life-long Doctor, Dr. Gregory Wallace; several more aunts, uncles, and cousins survive along with special friends, Lisa Winebrimmer, April Highlander, Amanda Amos, Brittany Bennett, and Adam Vance.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Michael Neel officiating. Burial will follow in Ballard-Harvey Cemetery at Rock Camp, WV. Friends may call Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
