Obituary

UNION, WV – Mayo Lee Weikle, age 89, of Union, WV passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his residence. Born December 25, 1928 at Sarton, WV he was the son of the late Samuel Arthur and Etna Parker Weikle. Mayo was a farmer and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He had a special talent when it came to his woodworking. He made each great-grandchild a wooden rocking horse of their own. He would also donate a lot of his woodworking pieces to local benefits to help in various fund raisers. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Mayo was also a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at Sarton, WV, where he had served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Clerk. Mayo loved his church and loved teaching the young people.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Theo, Freddy, and Forrest Weikle; one sister, Ova Weikle; two infant sisters, Mary Jane and Letha Mae Weikle; two brother-in-laws, Charles Walton and Lamar Weikle; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Williams Weikle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Ruth Jackson Weikle of Union, WV; two sons, Bruce Weikle and wife Marlene of Union, WV and Bobby Weikle and wife Cindy of Union, WV; two sisters, Letsie Walton of Covington, VA and Shirley Jackson and husband Harold of Lindside, WV; three grandchildren, Matthew Weikle and wife Jessica of Marlton, NJ, Josh Weikle and wife Nikki of Union, WV, and Brandy Lester and husband Lloyd of Union, WV; six great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Sienna, Jaxson, Owen, Kinley, and Lydia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastors, Bob Ratliff, Nathan Miller, and Mark Shafer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery at Sarton, WV, where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted. Friends may call Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
