BALLARD, WV --- Mason "Harvey" Flint, Jr., age 75, of Ballard, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Heritage Hall in Rich Creek, VA following an extended illness. Harvey was born August 2, 1947 in Bluefield, WV, to the late Mason H. Flint, Sr. and Osie Peele Flint. Harvey owned and operated Southern States Store in Hinton, WV and Rich Creek, VA. He was also a 911 dispatcher for Monroe County 911 in Union, WV. He graduated in 1964 from Peterstown High School. Harvey was a country boy from the start. He loved to be outside hunting, fishing, and camping. Harvey was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church, and he was a founding member and worked hard to get the establishment of the Ballard Volunteer Fire Department in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Flint of the home; two daughters, Andrea Hodge and husband Chris and grandson, Johnathan; Terri Lynn Richardson and husband Chad and grandchildren, Ty, Gabriella, and Lucas; one sister, Elaine Flint of Ballard, WV; step-son, Shane Jones, and several cousins; close friends, Mike Gilespie and family; Wayne Gillespie and family; also a special friend and hunting partner, Mark Horton.

In keeping with Harvey's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service to honor his life will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Cashmere Baptist Church in Cashmere, WV, with Pastor Walt Bonnell officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
