UNION, WV --- Mary Evelyn Hylton, age 87, of Union, WV, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at her residence. Born August 24, 1934 at Union, WV, she was the daughter of the late Gilmer and Myrtle Ward Bowyer. Mary had worked several years as a mail carrier in Monroe County and worked until her retirement as a 911 dispatcher for Monroe County 911. Mary loved her horses and loved showing her horses. Her beautiful Tennessee Walkers landed her four consecutive state championships in a row at the West Virginia State Fair. A record she was very proud of. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Pickaway, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde "Bill" Ellis Hylton, and a sister, Phyllis Freeman. Survivors include one son, Rick Hylton and Carol of Roanoke, VA, and Vickie Pickering and husband Gary of Union, WV; two grandchildren, Lance Pickering and wife Heather of Crawley, WV, and Erica Harbor of Newport News, VA; and one nephew, Mike Freeman and wife Tara of Ronceverte, WV.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
