UNION, WV --- Mary Ann Campbell Hinkle, age 83, of Union, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at her residence following a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born the daughter of a Monroe County farmer and a teacher/social worker on July 9, 1938 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Gladys O. Raines Campbell. She lived her entire life in Monroe County except for the time she married and followed the love of her life to Germany for military service. Mary Ann worked in Monroe County Schools for 38 years. Many former students remember her fondly from putting band-aids on their boo-boos or calling their parents when they were sick. She enjoyed farming, gardening, raising Tennessee Walking Horses, and cheering on the many members of her family as they showed their horses. She was a lifelong member of the Union United Methodist Church, where she was the church treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cecil M. Hinkle. She is survived by three daughters, Ann Jameson and husband Kent of Union, WV, and their children, Tyler Jameson and husband Tim Miller, and Caroline Jameson; Mary Jane Rickman and husband Thomas of Union, WV, and their children, Aaron Rickman, Mary Beth Hinkle, Rebecca McCormick, and Maggie Rickman; and Betsy Johnson and husband Kevin of Pickaway, and their son Campbell; great-grandchildren, Ava, Toulouse, and Lily of whom she adored tremendously; one sister, Julia Higginbotham and husband James; sister-in-law, Phyllis Baker and husband Arthur; and brother-in-law, Lewis McCormick.
