UNION, WV --- Mary Ellen Wykle Dunbar, 77 of Union passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Monroe County, West Virginia, October 22, 1939 a daughter of the late Danville and Maranda Taylor Wykle.
Mary was a homemaker and she attended the New Hope Tabernacle Church in Union.
She was a caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She always loved her flowers and was a very private kind of person, and she loved her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Dunbar on May 28, 2015, a brother, Herman Wykle, half-brother, Jake Davis and half-sisters, Dolly Humphreys and Hattie Dowdy.
She is survived by one son, Ricky Dunbar and wife Vicky of Union; two daughters, Patricia Allen and husband, Jimmy of Union, and Jackie Plumley and husband, Ken of Willow Bend; 2 sisters, Irene Parker of Columbus, Ohio, Dorothy Allen of Union; half-nephew, Gene Davis and wife, Linda in Zanesville, Ohio; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Carolyn Mann and good friend, Johnny McDowell also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with Rev. Phillip Hunt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 pm. until service time. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Union.
