SINKS GROVE, WV --- Mary T. Bennett, age 80, of Sinks Grove, WV, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV following an extended illness. Born August 2, 1939 she was the daughter of the late James Orville and Callie Sparks Tomlison. Mary, known as "Aunt Sissy," to her family and "TuTu" to her grandchildren, loved her family and friends dearly. She was a 1957 graduate of Union High School. She furthered her education and pursued her passion of nursing, graduating in 1960 from the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital School of Nursing in Clifton Forge, VA. Mary was a hard worker and dedicated her entire career for the care and better health of others. She retired as Nursing Supervisor from the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and from the Monroe County Technical Center where she taught the nursing program and inspired many students to enter the medical profession. She was an avid reader and had many books in her collection.  Mary loved the Lord and loved her Church family as well. She was a devoted member and Sunday School Teacher at the Fairview Christian Church at Keenan, WV.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Noah Simms; great-grandson, Noah Blazer; and a niece, Peggy Vass. Survivors include, one son, Jim Bennett and wife Jennifer of Peterstown, WV; one daughter, Edwina Simms and her Companion, Bob Williams of Lewisburg, WV; one sister, Margaret Vass and husband Butch of Sinks Grove, WV; four grandchildren, Paula Blazer and husband Tommy of Point Pleasant, WV, Caitlin Bennett of Peterstown, WV, Ashley Cylke and husband David of Pembroke, VA, and Cory Bennett of Peterstown, WV; Seven great-grandchildren; two nieces, Patricia Ridgeway and husband Rick of Gates, WV and Pam Dunford of Caldwell, WV; and one nephew, Kenny Vass and wife Jennifer of Sinks Grove, WV.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1. 2020 at the Fairview Christian Church Cemetery at Keenan, WV with Rev. Everett Fraley officiating. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, safe measures such as masks and social distancing are highly recommended while attending the services. Kenneth "Butch" Vass, Kenneth Vass, Jr., Rick Ridgeway, Anthony Ridgeway, Chase Dunford, and Tommy Blazer will serve as Pallbearers.
