ALDERSON, WV --- Mark Andrew Payne, age 45, of Alderson, WV, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV following a sudden illness. Born April 10, 1976 in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of Edward Joseph Baker, Jr. and Kathy Ann Miller Baker of Alderson, WV. Mark graduated from River Dale High School in Florida. Following graduation, he served four years in the U.S. Army and three years in the Army National Guard. During his military tenure, Mark excelled in his marksmanship ability. He also was an avid cook and was in the culinary division while serving his Country. Mark was also a truck driver and had earned his living driving a "big rig" all around the country.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward, Sr. and Anna Baker; maternal grandparents, James and Reabel Miller; one brother, Michael Payne; one niece, Ivy Dunbar; and one nephew, Hoss Forren. In addition to his parents, survivors include, one daughter, Kaylynn Payne of Alderson, WV, and her mother, Tonya Payne of Lewisburg, WV; two brothers, Alan Baker and Holly Howard of Alderson, WV, and Eddie Baker of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters, Lisa Forren and Jenn Danley of Alderson, WV, Melissa Broyles and husband Daniel of Kentucky, Heather Dunbar of Lewisburg, WV, and Katie Miller and husband R.J. of Lindside, WV; and twenty-four nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Joey Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway, WV, where the WV Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
