GREENVILLE, WV --- Lois E. Walthall Roles, age 83, of Greenville, WV passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at her home. Born November 21, 1934 at Muddy Creek Mountain, WV, she was the daughter of the late Masil and Erma McCallister Walthall. Lois was a loving and caring homemaker and helped manage the family farm serving many roles from shepherd to partnership manager. Lois and her husband Bob were former Farmer's Day King and Queen and also former WV Soil Conservation Farmers of the Year. She was a very knowledgeable lady. She was an avid reader and could recite all 44 U.S. Presidents from beginning to end. She enjoyed canning her fresh foods and working in her garden. Lois loved her faith. She was a member of the Mt. Hedding United Methodist Church at Lillydale, WV where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. She loved her family very much and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Smith and one great-grandson, Zackary Pollock. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Roles of Greenville, WV; one son, Ronnie Roles and wife Patty of Greenville, WV; three daughters, Lisa Jennings and husband Jim of Greenville, WV, Libby Kowalsky and husband Dennis of Rock Camp, WV, and Lynn Harvey and husband Lincoln of Greenville, WV; three sisters, Norene Pence of Alderson, WV, Doris Lilly of Hinton, WV and Faye Hancock Union, WV; thirteen grandchildren, Angela Chernauskas, Christina Salazar, Brandon Jennings, Allison St.Clair, David Guy, Ryan Jennings, Nathan Harvey, Carolyn Kowalsky, Hannah Roles, Denny Kowalsky, Ezra Roles, Hope Cline, and Jacob "Remington" Roles; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive; and special friends, Linda Bennett and husband Jim of Pickaway, WV.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Carl Mouser and Rev. Wayne Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hedding Cemetery at Lillydale, WV, where Lois's grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Friends may call Monday, March 26, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
