Obituary

SINKS GROVE, WV – Larry Richard Weikel, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. Born December 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Theodore Richard Weikel and Emogene Smith Allen.

Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran and received his Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia University. He was a hard worker who spent many hours working in the family business, Weikle Bros. Lumber Co. Additionally, he enjoyed farming.

His love of sports was well known. Any free time he had was enjoyed by playing or watching basketball, softball, or golf. He especially enjoyed cheering on his beloved Mountaineers, as he was a huge WVU fan. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who loved his family dearly and never met a stranger. His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore "Teddy" Weikel; special nephew, Aaron "Hot Rod" Boggs; and special friend who was like a brother, Frank Upton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Rosetta Sneddon; two sons, William and James Sneddon; one daughter, Erica Weikel Muddiman and husband Bryan; two grandchildren, Oliver McKinley Muddiman and Ethan Lee Muddiman; mother, Linda Weikel; one brother, Ralph Weikel and wife Tina; one sister, Marsha Weikel Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and special friends who were like brothers, Harry Walker, Mike Fullen, and David Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hedding Cemetery in Lillydale, WV. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
