GREENVILLE, WV --- Juliet "Judy" Kuhn Ellison, age 97, of "Hans Creek", Greenville, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Stonerise in Lindside, WV with family by her side. Judy was born May 25, 1925 in Huntington, WV and was the daughter of the late William and Julia Kuhn. In 1943 she married the love of her life, Richard Warren Ellison of Greenville, WV. Judy was a member, elder, deacon, and piano player for the Centerville Presbyterian Church in Greenville, WV. She was a member and office holder of WV Extension in which part of her service was as a 4-H Leader for the Handy Hans 4-H Club for many years. Judy served as the first woman to be on the board of education for Monroe County Schools as well. She also served on the board of directors for the Monroe County Library for years. She took pride in being one of the founders of the Monroe County Education Foundation, which has helped many young Monroe County students to further their education. Judy had dedicated her entire life to her family and helping others. She, along with Warren and their children, owned and operated the family farm on Hans Creek, WV, that was designated a "Bicentennial Farm" in 1988.
In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her loving husband Warren Ellison, son in law, Pat Level, and grandson Mark Czaja Jr., Survivors include ; her four daughters, Barbara Level of Organ Cave, WV, Charlotte Wilson and husband Woody Wilson of Greenville, WV, Dorothy Ellison Hunter and Denny Wood of Lewisburg, WV, Janette Wigal Ellison and Rick Hunt of Fairfax, VA; one son, Bert Ellison and wife Paula Ellison of Hans Creek, WV; seventeen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Hans Creek Church, on Hans Creek in Greenville, WV with Catherine Rolling and Bob Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Ellison Cemetery on the family farm at Hans Creek, WV with Warren Scott Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Church. Family will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in honor of Judy to be made to the Richard Warren Ellison Scholarship fund at First Community Bank in Lindside, WV, or to a charity of your choice.
