Obituary

Judy Kay Parker, 74, of Sinks Grove, WV, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 28th. Judy was the daughter of the late Ira and Enace Ratliff Martin of Salt Sulphur Springs, WV. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ervin Martin, and three brother in laws. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband and best friend of 52 years, Jackie L. Parker. Children Jill Jones (Davy), Jason Parker (Shannon), Jeanne Childers (Dustin), Jonathan Parker, Jameson Parker (Kelsey). Grandchildren Keith Hunter (Vanessa), Hayley Miller (Jason), Clay Hunter (Danielle), Zachary Hunter, Ashley Jones, Abigail Parker (Bret), Hayden Parker, Raina and Wyatte Childers, Lincoln and Maddy Parker. Great grandchildren are Destanee, Juan, Cris, Aysha, Riley, Emma, Dacoma, Kaiden, Nolan, Xander, and Elijah. Great grandchild, Malani. She is also survived by her sisters Ruth, Sue, Tammy (Herman), Kathy. Her brothers Danny, Ira (Icky), Jimmy. Her special friends Dale South, Dreama Brown and family. Wayne and Karen Dowdy, Greg Jones and the late Mindy Jones.

Judy was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and mawmaw. She was affectionately known as “Mawmaw” to most all who knew her. She spent her years selflessly caring for and raising her family. Along with her own children, she babysat numerous children in the community so she could stay home. She later worked for and retired from Magic Mart department store.

Judy was a faithful member of Union Memorial Baptist Church. She loved her church family. She enjoyed cleaning the church for many years with her friend Beverly Spencer. Her love for God was reflected in the life that she lived every day and her selflessness to others.

Judy found enjoyment in the simpler things in life. She loved her flowers and her birds. She watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy almost every night. She and Jack always had a garden and they spent many hours in the kitchen together canning. She was always up for a good shopping trip to hang out with the girls. Her greatest pastime though, was any activity or event that her grandchildren participated in.

Judy’s greatest joy was found in her family and the time she was able to spend with them. Together, she and Jack watched their family grow from 7 to 38. She made each and everyone feel special. She loved her large family gatherings and was the heart and soul of the family. Every member of the family held a special place in her heart. Each holiday was a memorable time of year where her passion and generosity reflected through in the food she prepared, the decorations she displayed, the pictures she wanted, and each cherished memory that was going to be captured.

Judy was an amazing woman. Even during her final months, her care and concern was never about herself, it was about her family. To her sisters, Sue and Tammy, we would like to say thank you for caring for her. Also, Adyson Hines, a special caregiver, we would like to say thank you for being so kind and compassionate.
