GAP MILLS, WV – Joyce Elaine Hardy Bays, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Genesis Nursing Home in White Sulphur Springs, WV.

Born March 23, 1950, in Montgomery, WV, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gusta Myers Hardy.

Joyce was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. She was a homemaker and caretaker that watched over many children and elders over the years.  Her family legacy was that she could teach nearly anyone to swim and she made the best biscuits and sweet tea ever.

She was determined, independent, and enjoyed conversations with friends and family.   She enjoyed living in farm country and her beloved animals, especially her horses.

She attended Kimberly Elementary, graduated from Montgomery High in Montgomery, WV.

She was a Christian and was baptized as a youth at Deep Water, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Casey Hardy, Brothers: Benjamin Hardy (infant), Dwight Hardy, Dewayne Hardy, and Mike (Emily) Hardy. Sisters: Lona (Bill) Blankenship, Debra (Martin) Jones

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Tom (Karen) Hardy, sister Carol (Bill) Miller, Granddaughter Josie Hardy, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Hardy Family Cemetery, located at 7589 Moncove Lake Road, Gap Mills, WV 24941.
