GAP MILLS, WV --- Joshua Allen Smearman, age 33, of Gap Mills, WV passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA following a sudden illness. Born March 26, 1983 at Summersville, WV he was the son of Mark Allen and Marva Marie Hypes Smearman of Gap Mills, WV. Josh was a 2001 graduate of James Monroe High School. He served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as salesman at Napa Wilson Auto Parts Store at Covington, VA. He was also affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
In addition to his Mother and Father, survivors include his wife Shannon Marie Butler Smearman of Gap Mills, WV; three step-children, Austin and wife Courtlyn of Sylacauga, AL, Shelby and Kaitlin of Gap Mills, WV; one brother, Jeremiah Smearman of Alderson, WV; maternal grandparents, Roger and Debbie Hypes, Marie and Denny Pierson, and Eugene Endicott all of Summersville, WV; two nephews, Bentley and Branson; and his special K-9 friend, Dixie.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Revs. Mark and Marva Smearman officiating. Burial will follow in Hypes Family Cemetery in Tipton, WV (near Summersville, WV).
