Obituary

UNION, WV --- John Timothy "Tim" Fullen, 58 of Union passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Greenville following a farming accident.
He was born at Ronceverte, West Virginia, February 4, 1959 a son of the late John Thomas Roles Fullen and Ellen Margurite Fisher Fullen.
Growing up in Salt Sulphur Springs, faith and farming were deeply rooted in Tim where he learned the trade alongside his father, uncles, cousins and friends. His mom encouraged his faith by dragging him to church and to the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Greenville Charge. Here, his love of the Lord grew and lead him to serve his community with his gifts. This is also where he fell in love with Linnie McPeak, resulting in a 36-year marriage. Tim was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Always servant-minded, he willingly and enthusiastically served his church, his family and the farming community.
Tim was a 1977 graduate of Union High School where he was a member of the FFA and served as Senior Class President. He then went on to Potomac State College for two years before transferring to Virginia Tech, obtaining a BS in Agronomy. Upon graduating he returned to Union to work alongside his father at Fullen Fertilizer Co., Inc.; eventually taking over the operation. A gifted agronomist, innovator and inventor, Tim introduced precision agriculture to the Greenbrier Valley, offering custom farm mapping, sampling and application methods for all local farmers to meet high yields. He and Linnie owned and operated Turkey Creek Farm, and were the first WV farmers to enroll in the Conservation Resource Enhancement Program in efforts to correct and prevent stream bank erosion. They were members of the Greenbrier Valley Cattleman's Association and Tim's most recent endeavor was growing and sourcing high quality non-GMO grains for Smooth Ambler Spirits.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jackie Ellen Fullen and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Lou "Linnie" McPeak Fullen of Union; 3 children, Hanna Fullen Roberts and husband, Justin of Liberty, John Dale "J. D." Fullen and wife, Sonya of Union, Savannah Lynn Fullen of Union; 5 grandchildren, Jakob, Katelin, Emily, John Lukas "Luke" and Joel Tucker; aunts and uncles, Bernard Fullen and wife, Virginia of Bowling Green, Ky., Margaret Fisher of Union and Zona Fisher of Roanoke, Va., several cousins also survive.
