PETERSTOWN, WV --- John Andrew Dempsey, age 67, of Peterstown, WV, formally of Alderson, WV, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. John was born January 1, 1956 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Lewis Dempsey and Julia Jones Dempsey. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jackie Dunbar Dempsey; one daughter, Terena Dempsey (Scott) of Blacksburg, VA; three brothers, Tom (Delores) of Sinks Grove, WV, Bill (Robin) of Second Creek, WV, and Charles (Lori) of Alderson, WV; four sisters, Velma (Jimmy) of Williamsburg, Jane (Micheal) of Lexington, NC, Sarah of Alderson, WV, and Roza (Ray) of Alderson, WV; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. John loved working as a farmhand on Maple Lawn Farms and he enjoyed hunting as well. In keeping with John's wishes, he will be cremated, and his family will celebrate his life privately at a later date.
