SINKS GROVE, WV --- James R. "Jim" Wester, age 70 of Sinks Grove, WV passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Born May 28, 1949 at Washington, DC, he was the son of the late James E. and Lillian Wester of Maryland. He served his country, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. Duties included in the Mediterranean and Vietnam, where he was radio man with his team. Electronics were such a passion of his that he continued working in that field throughout his civilian career, including at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Maryland, B.F. Goodrich in West Virginia, Ketchikan Pulp Company in Alaska, and most recently back at B.F. Goodrich/ Collins Aerospace. Jim loved to travel which he did with the Marine Corps and throughout his life including his dream of driving the Alcan Highway to Alaska (before it was paved). He also loved his dogs, most recently, Blue. Jim is survived by his loving friends and family including, two daughters, Erin Gonzalez and husband Marcos, and Rachel Wester, and their Mother Ann; long time close friend, Jonda Sherman of West Virginia and her son, James Sherman; daughter, Ayla Sherman; Jim's sister, Mary Ellen Horsmon; niece Casey Stonestreet and husband, David; nephew, Glenn Horsman and wife Julie;  great-nieces, Lexy and Jewel; and various cousins also survive. A memorial service and gathering will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV.
