GAP MILLS, WV – James Edward Pitzer, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Born July 2, 1963, in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Robert and Allie Marie Ford Pitzer. James worked numerous types of jobs for the West Virginia Department of Highways in Union, WV. He enjoyed going to church, having previously attended the Union Church of God, and more recently, the Second Creek Church of God. He loved going fishing, listening to music, and all animals, especially his faithful dog, Nya. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Ann Dixon Pitzer; three brothers, Larry, David, and Gary Pitzer; and one sister, Rose Pitzer.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Pitzer of Beckley, WV; one son, Danny Pitzer (Savannah) of Gap Mills, WV; one granddaughter, his parter-in-crime, Aubrey Pitzer; two brothers, Robert Pitzer of Gap Mills, WV, and Herman Pitzer and wife Tammy of Frankford, WV; two sisters, Susan Mines of Gap Mills, and Ruth Lewis and husband Brian of Union, WV; his team at the Union Department of Highways; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor D.J. Deskins officiating. Burial will follow at the Carmel Cemetery in Gap Mills, WV.

Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home.
