UNION, WV --- James Emory Martin, age 93, of Union, WV, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at the White Sulphur Springs Center in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Born January 26, 1929 in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Dewey B. and Mattie Hylton Martin. James served his country proudly and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.  He was retired from the timber business and had worked hard logging his entire life. He loved taking walks and he enjoyed telling stories of the good old days. He planted many trees around his and his family's property for everyone to enjoy for years to come. His family meant the world to him, and he loved them all dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Gail Martin; two brothers, Jesse and Joseph Eugene Martin; one sister, Polly Martin Barnett; and a cousin, Gordon Hylton. Survivors include, two sons, Emory Dale Martin and wife Kathy of White Sulphur Springs, WV and James Wendell Martin and wife Anita of Union, WV; cousins, Myles Hylton of Pearisburg, VA, Mark Hylton of Charleston, WV, and Gary Hylton of Charleston, WV; three grandchildren, Emory Lewis Martin of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Aaron Martin and wife Brittany of Union, WV, and Stacey D. Martin and wife Penny of Union, WV; two great-grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Martin and James Landon Martin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Noon on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Ralph Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in the Vance Cemetery at Hollywood, WV, where the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
