WAYESIDE, WV--- James Ronald "Ronnie" Kirby, 78, of Wayside, went to be with the lord, Wednesday, May 30 after battling a long illness. Born May 29, 1940 on Judson Mountain in Summers County and raised by his grandparents, the late William Arthur and Elsie Lenore Kirby. Ronnie was a graduate of Union High School class of 1958 and served in the US Army as a crewman in the 2nd Missile Battalion 84th Artillery from 1959 to 1965. He lived his life as a deeply religious man and attended the House of God and War Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and spent his life as a lifelong farmer, flea marketer, and soap maker.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Ronnie is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lucas, and his son, James Victor Kirby.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Margaret Marie Abbott Kirby, daughter, Juanita Rhodes and husband Neal of Sinks Grove, daughter-in-law, Patricia Kirby of Wayside, granddaughters, Jade Canterbury and husband Travis of Hollywood, and Harley Banks and husband Don of Sinks Grove, grandson, James Dalton Kirby, and great grandson Johnathan Blaze Canterbury.
Graveside rights will be held on Friday, June 1st at 11am at Creamery Campground Cemetery with Pastor Allen Hilton officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard.
