Union, WV ---James "Jim" Guy Doane age 62 of Union, WV passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg, PA following a long illness. Born March 8, 1960 to parents Kenneth and Gloria Doane, he graduated from Beaverton High School in 1979 in Beaverton, Michigan and West Virginia Rehabilitation Center in Charleston, WV in 1993. Jim loved cooking, fishing, gardening, computer repair, he loved looking at fall leaves in Pocahontas County, his wife's artwork, he loved Monroe County and the people in Monroe County, he loved brown beans, cornbread, and ramps and going to ramp dinners and chocolate cookies. Jim loved his dogs Shadow, Copper, and Rerun. He also enjoyed time with his cat, Boots.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Timothy Ty Doane and brother Kenneth Leroy Doane; sister, Penny Sue Doane; a neice, Amber Doane; grandparents, Flint and Marie Doane, and Cullie and Beatrice Carper; aunts and uncles Ralph and Carol Garland, Bruce, Billy, Jim, Corky, Delores, and Dean.
Survivors include the love of his life for 29 years, Brenja C. Parker Doane; brother Billy Joe (Jill) Doane of Chesterfield, MI; Dawn Marie Doane of Harrison, MI; aunts and uncles Sharon (Tom), Bev (Bob), Joyce, Gerri, Barbara; special family friends, Donnie and Judy Davis; sister-in-laws Betty Doane and Connie Doane; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survived.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2023 to the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Gene Fullen and Pastor Phil Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery at Sarton, WV. The family will receive friends Friday, January 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Bruce Weikle, Charles Brooks, Chris Price, Mike Dunbar, Jimmy Fently, Dwight Bostic, Allen Hunt, and Bryan Parker will serve as Pall Bearers.
The Doane family would like to send a special "thanks" to all STAT EMT's, Brandee Ellis, Steve and Emily Roach, Grant Gillen, and Home Care Plus, and the ICU staff at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Dr. Kowalsky, and very special friend Burl Crum, the Groves-Mann Funeral Home staff, the Monroe County Daycare staff, Trinity United Methodist Church, and all the friends and family who sent cards, flowers, food, and prayers.
