GAP MILLS, WV – James Junior Clarkson, age 82, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home in Gap Mills, WV. Born July 26, 1942, in Gap Mills, WV, he was the son of the late Isiah and Roxie Terry Clarkson.

James was a hard worker who had numerous jobs throughout his life, including cutting pulp wood, working as an orderly at Sweet Springs, and most recently, as a custodian at the Health Clinic. When he wasn't working, James enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a simple man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Loyd Clarkson; daughter-in-law, Pamela Yates; brother, Leon Clarkson; sister-in-law, Shirley Clarkson; and brother-in-law, Vernon Blankenship.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Talma Williams Clarkson; one son, Calvin Clarkson of Montvale, VA; granddaughter, Scarlett and Tye Allen of Nashville, TN; great grandson, Brayden Doss of Nashville, TN; daughter, Velleda and Ronald Dunbar of Organ Cave; granddaughter, Velleda and Rob VerNooy of Harrisonburg, VA; great granddaughter, Maya VerNooy; great grandson, Nate VerNooy; sisters, Lucille and Fred Johnson of Clifton Forge, VA, Nancy and Clark Blankenship of Chester, VA, and Katherine Blankenship of Gap Mills, WV; one brother, Orville and Wanda Clarkson of Prince George, VA; best friends, Quince Galford and Walter Beane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Jim Rogers and Pastor Bob Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at the New Zion Church Cemetery in Waiteville, WV, with Ronald Dunbar, Quince Galford, James Galford, Kevin Miller, Kelvin Clarkson, and Ronnie Porterfield serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
