SECOND CREEK, WV --- Irene Ward, age 86, of Second Creek, WV died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV. Born March 13, 1935 at Louisa, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Myrtal Moore. She was the last survivor of her many brothers and sisters. She had worked in a fiberglass plant and in a hospital in Ohio. Irene was one in a million who was always asking you if you needed anything. She would give you the shirt off her back if she knew you needed it. She loved to sit on her porch and loved watching her preachers on TV. She always told everyone "I love you" and "God bless you". She will be sadly missed on Second Creek, where she was a light to many in darkness, a shining beam.

She was loved by her husband of 49 years, always calling her sweetheart and doll. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmie Ward who passed away on October 6, 2021, whom she loved and missed dearly; four brothers, Wilson, Dave, Mathew, and Levi Moore; ten sisters, (twins) Efee and Afee Moore, Ava Moore, Pauline Hayes, Zora Anders, Ethel Pack, Pearleen Moore, Edith Thompson, Belvi Howard, and Elmerrie Pack. She is survived by her husband James Ward; children, Sally Brown, Judy Urban, and Larry Kazee; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor David Deskins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery, Highland Park, WV. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
