SINKS GROVE, WV --- Ida "Sue" Canterbury Miller, age 80, of Sinks Grove, WV, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Peyton Hospice House in Ronceverte, WV. Born April 19, 1938 at Greenville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Vernon and Minnie Faye Harvey Canterbury. Sue, as she was known to most, was involved greatly in her Church. She had been a member at the Fort Springs Baptist Church and was currently a member of the Sinks Grove Baptist Church. She had served as Treasurer and as a Sunday School Teacher at both churches as well. She was involved in many civic organizations such as a Home Extension Agent and she served as Queen of Farmer's Day in the mid 90's to name a few. Her Hobbies included making jewelry, crafts, gardening, and providing many services to her community.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Clark Miller; one daughter, Patty Louise Dunbar; one brother, Lewis Canterbury; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Canterbury. Survivors include, her precious daughter and caregiver, Pamela Lynn Miller of Sinks Grove, WV; one sister, Madeline Lively Ballard of Wayside, WV; two brothers, Randall Canterbury and wife Bonnie of Covington, VA and Larry Canterbury and of Covington, VA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Clark Dunbar and wife Corrennia and James Stacey Dunbar and wife Karen; great-grandchildren, Alex Clark Dunbar and Logan Knight Dunbar; step-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mason Fisher; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastors Jim Rogers and Clayton Ripley officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lewisburg, WV. Friends may call Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local food pantry, church, or civic organization in honor of Sue.
