UNION, WV --- Hamp Arnold Kirk, age 78, of Union, WV passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV following a long illness. Born June 13, 1937 at Gap Mills, WV he was the son of the late Herman and Lucy Humphries Kirk. Mr. Kirk was a retired box cutter operator at a cardboard box manufacturing plant in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Kirk loved attending church at the Union Church of God in Union. He also enjoyed long walks and he was also always willing to help others.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Robert Lee, James, and Lowell Kirk; four sisters, Rose Walker, Violet Dowdy, Clara McMillion, and Kathleen Kirk; one brother-in-law, Earl Ripley. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Donna Sue Terry Kirk of Union, WV; two brothers, Russell Kirk and wife Jean of Gap Mills, WV and Buddy Kirk and wife Tina of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Ella Mae Ripley of Fairlea, WV; one sister-in-law, Connie Dixon and husband Steve of Sinks Grove, WV; two brother-in-laws, Thomas Walker, Sr. of Covington, VA and William McMillion of Frankford, WV; special great- nephew and niece, Nathanial and Delilah Hughart, and several nephews and nieces also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Don Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV. Friends may call Monday, September 21, 2015 from 12:00 Noon until time of services at the funeral home.
