WILLOW BEND, WV --- Gregory F. "Greg" Harvey, 58, of Willow Bend, WV, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at his home unexpectantly. Born March 8, 1962 in Union, WV at Dr. George H. Guy's clinic to Homer F. and Rowena Kast Harvey. He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal grandparents, James and Virginia Janney Kast and Paternal grandparents, Wilbur F. and Martha McDaniel Harvey. Greg is survived by his mother, Rowena; one sister, Deborah Bradley and husband James (Jr.) of Organ Cave. He is also survived by his favorite relatives, his nieces and nephews whom he adored and was devoted to since their birth, namely Martha Bland, Joshua Bland, Andrew Bland, and Amanda Bradley. Also survived by niece and nephew by heart, Lexi Carter and Brian Carter. Greg is also survived by several cousins and many loved and cherished friends. Greg was a member of the United Methodist Church at Dropping Lick and a certified Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Monroe Parish. Greg was a former member of the Union Little League Board, Little League Coach and Concession Manager, and avid sports lover, and he was especially a Mountaineer fan and Cincinnati Reds fan. Greg's work history included a multitude of ventures including painting with his dad and grandpa, running a pawn shop as well as a bar up until January 1996 when he found his perfect calling and became a larger than life hero to his nieces and nephews. Greg's life has been devoted to caring for, loving and helping his family and friends whether it be his grandparents, his parents, his sister, or his nieces and nephews, or friends and neighbors. He leaves a void in our hearts that nobody else can fill and we will always be indebted to him for showing us how to love and support unconditionally and encourage us to never be afraid to let down our guard and help someone. Due to the regulations associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic and out of love and respect for family and friends, Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2020 outdoors in the parking lot area with social distancing measures required, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Ellison Cemetery, Rock Camp, WV. A social distancing gathering will begin at 1:00 p.m. until time of services Friday, April 10, 2020 in the parking lot area of the funeral home.
