WAYSIDE, WV --- On March 15, 2018 at 3:30 a.m. the Angels came and carried Gethyl Sue Ferguson Huffman, 71 years old, to Heaven to be with Jesus, from Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem VA. Gethyl was born in Baltimore Maryland on February 9, 1947 to Elmer and Freda Deskins Ferguson. Due to circumstances in the family her uncle and aunt, Cecil and Caroline Atkins raised and loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her aunt and uncle; brother, Dennis and a brother Dale Ferguson; one sister, Gaye Faudree; and a cousin who she grew up with, Joseph Deskins. Surviving Gethyl is her husband Melvin Carlos Huffman of 53 years; two sons, Melvin Lee and Fred Samuel, and one daughter, Trisha Louise, all of Wayside, WV; one sister, Judy Hopcrft of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; one brother, Donald Ferguson of Buffalo Grove, IL; Also a brother-in-law, Marvin Faudree of Covington, VA and a sister-in-law, Pat Ferguson of Nashville, TN. Gethyl was a caregiver to several people. She also enjoyed sewing and made several quilts, doing crafts, as well as redoing antique furniture. She was always willing to help a neighbor in need and do church work which she was a member of the Methodist Church of Creamery, WV. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Groves Funeral Home, Union, WV. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel, Union, WV with Pastor Bob Ratliff and Pastor Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow at the Campground Cemetery, Creamery, WV. Bryan, Darris, and Danny Huffman, Wade and Glen Lively and Charles Wilson will serve as Pallbearers.
